How do I require tenant to set up utilities?

If you’d like to require tenants to set up utilities, you can include this information when creating the lease. Your tenant will then be able to set up utility services from their side and provide confirmation numbers when complete.

In the third-step of the move-in process, you’ll come across “Extra Fees & Utilities.” Scroll down to the “Utilities” section and press “Set up utilities”:

You will then see a “Configure utilities” pop-up where you can select which services you would like to require. You can require your tenant to set up specific utilities such as internet, electricity, gas, water, sewer, and trash. Make sure the toggle buttons are enabled for the services you’d like to require.

The available utility providers that can be set up for this address will be shown automatically. You can also add more options by clicking on the “+ Add provider” link.

You can remove providers by clicking the “Trash” icon next to each provider.

Please note!
The providers offered by the system cannot be deleted. Also, if a tenant has already completed a setup with a certain provider, that provider cannot be deleted.

The “Upload document” option allows tenants to upload documents to prove their residency to the utility company and set up utilities successfully.

Click on the “Done” button once everything is set up;

You will see the list of utilities and their statuses in the lease details > “Utilities” tab > “Utility Providers” section. Each utility will have an according status:

  • Incomplete - when the utility is required, but the tenant hasn’t set it up yet;
  • Completed - when the tenant has set up the utility;
  • Disabled - when the utility wasn’t required.

You can manage the utilities you’d like to request by clicking on the “Configure utilities” link:

Please note!
If you disable the utility option that was already set up by your tenant, this option will be removed from their side.

The “Details” link next to the utility allows you to see and update the information your tenant has entered when setting up the utility.
