What if my applicant is unable to pass identity verification?

Updated over 2 weeks ago

When submitting the Screening Report, your applicant will need to verify their identity and answer three questions, which are based on their personal credit profile. There is a time limit of 5 minutes per session, as well as a maximum of 7 attempts. Any answers that are submitted by the applicant after the seventh attempt will result in an error and their identity will not be verified.

For background screenings conducted through TenantCloud, the results are generally available immediately after the applicant completes the process. However, in cases where manual verification by TransUnion is required, outcomes may take up to 48 hours to finalize.

If an applicant's background check takes longer than anticipated, delays may often be due to incomplete actions on their part. Applicants need to ensure they have signed in to their TenantCloud account and completed all required steps under the relevant application or screening sections.

Applicants should confirm that all steps in the process, such as providing accurate information and completing identity verification, have been properly executed. If delays persist beyond 48 hours, contacting the screening provider or support team may be necessary.

In some cases, general verification delays may arise due to circumstances such as manual verifications or pending applicant actions. These delays can be mitigated by ensuring that all necessary information and documentation are promptly provided and reviewed.

Processing gaps can also contribute to delays, so waiting up to 48 hours for processes requiring additional manual checks is recommended. Applicants are advised to complete all actions accurately and proactively follow up for any unresolved issues.

In this case, the user will need to call the TransUnion call center to further assist in a manual verification process, which may take up to 48 hours. Once a renter's identity is verified, the report will be generated. The Screening Report is available for 30 days.

Manual verifications are generally initiated when automatic identity verification fails or additional research is required by the screening provider. Ensuring the accuracy of initial submissions can reduce the likelihood of this scenario.
