Income & Employment Verification
Income & employment verification is a process that landlords and property management teams use to verify the income documents, such as paystubs and bank statements, submitted during the application process. This helps identify fraudulent submissions and ensures that applications are based on real, verifiable information.
We’ve partnered with Snappt, which evaluates every applicant using the same standards, reducing human error or bias. This enables property teams to make more informed decisions, and residents can be assured that the process is transparent and secure.
Please note! Income verification is available in the US only.
You can request your applicants to run an income & employment verification along with submitting their application when you list a rental unit. Simply enable the Income & employment verification option on the corresponding step of the listing wizard form, or when activating a unit directly on the listing details page. If you are on the Starter subscription plan, the income & employment verification is required for all your applicants when they apply online.
You can also request an income & employment verification from your applicants after they have applied or you have manually created an application. To request this verification directly from the application, select Applications on the left side, then find and open the needed application. Next, go to the Income verification tab of the application and click on the “Request verification“ button. Then, provide the required data and send the verification request.
In addition, it is possible to request applicants to run the verification even without inviting them to apply first or without a submitted application by combining this verification with the screening process. To do so, start by clicking on the “Screen tenant“ button on the Applications or Screenings page, choose a preferred screening package, and on the following step, enable the Income & employment verification option. This action will automatically create a new empty application for this applicant.
Once the request is submitted, you will see a pop-up window informing you that the screening & income verification request has been sent to the applicant, who will be notified via email about further steps. Applicant’s involvement is needed. They will need to upload the documents and submit them for review. When the report is complete, you will also be notified via email.
Please note! The income request will be automatically cancelled if no action is taken by an applicant for 3 days.
You can customise which document types, pay stubs and/or bank statements, and their number you require your applicants to upload in the Rental Application Settings.
The income & employment verification report will be generated once the prospective tenant uploads the requested documents, and those are reviewed by Snappt. The verification report is available to both applicants and landlords for a period of 30 days. Click on “View” to open the report that is available as a PDF file that can be downloaded.
If a report with an Undetermined result is delivered, you can require additional documents from your applicant up to 5 times by clicking on the “Request additional documents“ button. This will open a pop-up window allowing you to specify what document types you require, and also add a short note. Once the request is sent to an applicant, they will be informed via email, and the report status will change to “Additional documents needed”. After the additional documents are submitted by an applicant, a new report will be delivered with the status Updated.
Please note! If a report with an Edited result is delivered, an applicant has the right to initiate the dispute process with Snappt directly.
